Columbia River Jacket

Columbia River Jacket

$8.00

Columbia River is a versatile jacket that can be worn buttoned or zipped like a Bomber jacket all the way to the top of the collar.

I designed this sweater to give you a colorwork cardigan that avoids the typical pitfalls or points of angst for so many knitters:

• There are no steeks
• Use only one color per row
• Wrong side rows are “resting rows

There are no floats to deal with as the simple color work technique uses only one color on any given row. What a great introduction to colorwork -- without the hassle of carrying two strands of yarn at once!

Plus, it’s worked top-down and seamless so you can try it on as you go and know that it fits! You can also get exactly the length you want. I think it would be super cute a little shorter than shown…maybe at about the top of your hip-bones? (I think I made my sample too long….)

The easy colorwork technique makes for a dramatic yoke with a sweet echo of the colorwork design at the cuffs and hemline. Strongly contrasting colors are advised for the most dramatic effect in the yoke.

The sample shown was worked in Sweet Georgia Mohair DK with the color work done using Sweet Georgia Party of Five (Tough Love Sock) held double in color Swell. I used 3 of the 5 colors and transitioned one strand at a time for a subtle gradient. Too much color change in the CC and the color work design “gets lost”.

Wear this sweater jacket with a pair of jeans (or leggings) and boots for a casual look or with slacks or a skirt to the office.

Make several in different color combinations and be ready for Columbia River to become your favorite “go to” sweater jacket!

The instructions include charts for use of colors, all else is written instructions, and the pattern has been professionally tech edited and tested.
